Careful planning and staged works enabled the project to be completed with zero operational downtime and zero safety incidents.
This complex industrial roofing project included:
– Replacement of approximately 30,000m² of roof and wall cladding
– Installation of specialised industrial roof ventilation systems designed for the extreme Pilbara climate
– Installation of a high-capacity siphonic roof drainage system
– Structural steel roofing works including the supply and installation of roof purlins, bridging and safety tarp systems
– The works included a full industrial roof replacement and restoration, together with extensive wall re-cladding and ventilation upgrades.
– Replacement of ridge ventilation systems
– Installation of new louvre ventilation systems
– Comprehensive safety management and staged construction to maintain continuous site operations
To successfully deliver the project, PRC Building Services deployed a workforce of up to 45 experienced personnel, supported by a dedicated full-time project administration and management team. More than 600 tonnes of scaffolding were installed and continually relocated as construction progressed across the facility.
Working in the Pilbara presented significant environmental challenges, with temperatures regularly reaching 35–40°C alongside high humidity. Despite these demanding conditions, the project was delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
To minimise disruption to the client’s rail operations, construction was undertaken throughout the Christmas shutdown period, including work on Christmas Day, allowing essential infrastructure upgrades to be completed while maintaining business continuity.
